Browser wars is a metaphorical term that refers to competitions for dominance in usage share in the web browser marketplace. The term is often used to denote two specific rivalries: the competition that saw Microsoft's Internet Explorer replace Netscape's Navigator as the dominant browser during the late 1990s and the erosion of Internet Explorer's market share since 2003 by a collection of emerging browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera.

How will google treat firefox now that it developped another browser?
Q. Google was one of the Firefox supporters in the war against Microsoft Internet Explorer. What do you think will happen now to Firefox?
Asked by Idan P - Sun Sep 7 16:40:55 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. My guess, it that they will still work with Firefox, just so that Google can get the maximum exposure. Google wants open source to win the software war, so it is likely that they will help Firefox, and continue to fund them. Though I look for firefox market share and internet explorer market share to drop rapidly. I personally think the Microsoft should abandon internet explorer. I also think that this will kill off Opera.
